Texas

A good number of hard core Democrats have been working hard to turn Texas blue. There are some demographic studies that indicate that Texas will be blue around 2024 or so just due to GOP voters dying off and being replaced by younger non-white voters. The analysis about Georgia is helpful as to how to speed up the process

Texas at the start of this decade is actually even more promising than Georgia was at the start of the last decade. The Lone Star State has the second-largest pool of nonvoting people of color of any state in the country (second only to already-blue California), and the number of potential voters of color far exceeds the margin of difference in statewide elections. Joe Biden lost Texas by 631,221 votes, and despite the record turnout on both sides, 4.5 million eligible people of color still did not vote, according to exit polls and Census data. In 2018, Beto ORourke lost his Senate bid by 215,000 votes in an election in which 5.4 million people of color didnt cast ballots. The still-untapped potential in Texas is enormous, which is exactly why the conservatives work so hard to suppress the vote there.
I was pleased to see that this article discusses the Texas Organizing Project. TOP helped elect a friend to be the first African American district attorney in my county (thank you George Soros for funding this)
Texas has so many Mexican Americans and African Americans (a combined 53 percent of the states population) for a reasonthe land there used to belong to Mexico and was annexed into the United States through war and bloodshed in the 1840s so that the residents of the state could continue to hold Black people in chattel slavery. Just as Abramss success is rooted in Georgias civil rights history, it is not inconsequential that Mexican-American and African-American daughters of Texas are leading an organization that is entrenched in and driving change.
Texas will turn blue and after this happens, the GOP will not be able to win the electoral college

(2,749 posts)Its a beautiful state but will truly be a great state when it turns blue, and having you here gets us just a little closer to that.
Where did you land?

Word has it that Abrahms is working to turn Texas using the Georgia model.

(2,343 posts)saying Texas will be blue soon , but aside from Beto's close race against Cruz, democrats keep badly losing the governor's races, presidential races, and in my district of blue Harris county, the eyepatch very easily won re-election. Plus, goobers like gohmert keep getting elected.
There is still a lot of backwoods ignorance in this state. Couple that with the fact that we usually have one of the lowest voter turnouts, and I don't see this happening very soon. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

(25,508 posts)We didn't pick up any seats in November in the lege. Patrick made another super-majority. We are gonna be gerrymandered beyond belief. We also can't make headway with state wide candidates because our candidates are all unknown. The Express News endorsed: Cornyn and every Supreme Court incumbent...they said the Democrats weren't "experienced enough".....
