A&M prof & department head jumps from campus building, dies

A department head at Texas A&M University died Tuesday after jumping from the Northside Parking Garage, according to officials.

Details surrounding the death of James Aune, a professor who led the Department of Communication, have not been released.

A university police spokesman said authorities are working to gather information that soon will be shared with the public.

Aune was considered an expert in rhetoric theory and the First Amendment. He authored Rhetoric and Marxism and Selling the Free Market, for which he was awarded the 2003 National Communication Association Diamond Anniversary Book Award.

I hope whomever saw him jump or came upon his broken body is not traumatized.

I wonder what could have drove him to this end.
