U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert Joins Caucus Heralding 'Anglo Saxon Political Traditions'

Looks like U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert has traded in his dog whistle for a bullhorn.

On Friday, Punchbowl News reported the East Texas Republican had agreed to join a nakedly nativist congressional group, the “America First Caucus." Formed by controversial Georgia U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the caucus vowed to safeguard the "interests of the American people."

But in its policy platform, the caucus wrote it views America as “a nation with a border, and a culture, strengthened by a common respect for uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions.” It also called for cultural assimilation within education, and for infrastructure encompassing an aesthetic value that “befits the progeny of European architecture.”

Greene, who sparked controversy in the past for promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory, later nixed the launch of her caucus after catching blowback from GOP leaders, according to CNN.

a book about Brit history, and it seems no one knows much about Angles and Saxons.

They were, however, put out by the Normans in 1066 and the House of Plantagenet took over. They were French, btw.

Turns out there were several Houses of Plantagenet, and they fought a lot. With each other. And there were Stewarts and a few others throwing their weight in the mix. Very Confusing. It gets worse when you throw in Cromwell.

Even more confusing is how they got to the House of Hanover (there's yer Saxon-ish heritage) and how they ended up with the House of Windsor, which is really the House of Saxe-Coburg, but one of the kings thought that sounded too German (the wars and all that) so came up with Windsor.

The only thing understandable in the whole mess is Wallis Simpson.
