New 'no show' policy added to overnight stays at Texas State Parks

There's an important change to the Texas State Park reservations policy.

Beginning June 1, all reservations will be subject to a new "no show" policy, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. If you do not check-in by noon the day after your scheduled arrival, your reservation may be canceled, and the site will be released back to available inventory.

The policy only applies to overnight stays longer than one night, according to TPWD.

"We are implementing this new policy to reduce the number of reserved but unused campsites and allow more people to enjoy camping in a state park," TPWD told MySA.com.

I go camping about twice a year. I notice, all the time, the empty camping spots when the reservation calendar shows it's booked up.

just last month, we rented a cabin the week before memorial day. it stated that all of the cabins at the park were completely booked up, yet while we were there, we were the only ones actually using a cabin (this goes for camp grounds as well). (there are a total of 6 cabins at this particular park)
