Elon Musk's tunneling company just bought land in Central Texas
SpaceX and Tesla aren't Elon Musk's only companies expanding in Texas.
A company affiliated with The Boring Company, Musk’s tunneling and infrastructure transportation venture, is reportedly buying property in Central Texas' Bastrop County.
The Austin American-Statesman's Kara Carlson reports that Gapped Bass LLC, a company affiliated with The Boring Company, purchased 73 acres in northwest Bastrop County back in May. Records filed with the Texas Secretary of State's office revealed that Gapped Bass shared the same address as The Boring Company's Pflugerville facility.
And while plans haven't been revealed for the Bastrop acreage, a job listing with The Boring Company refers to the spot as the company's "research and development site."
Musk's main goal with The Boring Company is to revamp intracity transportation (and eventually longer intercity routes) through tunnels and "loop" systems that will take passengers underground at speeds up to 150 miles per hour. There are currently completed tunnels in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
