TEXAS In the aftermath of the strictest abortion law in the country taking effect in Texas on Wednesday, a growing sentiment has emerged on social media encouraging people to boycott Texas-based businesses.
The same movement of people advocating boycotts is also encouraging musicians, theater companies and others to skip the Lone Star State.
In a Tweet by Megan Kelly Hall that has been shared more than 5,000 times, the author called on entertainers and athletes to skip Texas on various tours.
Dont bring money & business to a state that has put $10k bounties on womens heads, she wrote.

(1,910 posts)In the end, its a scare tactic. Repugs know the first case that gets brought to court exposes the sham law and would get hammered from 100 different angles by progressive lawyers.
Watch, there will never be a case brought into any civil court under this 'law'.

(24,549 posts)TBH...How would a private citizen file a lawsuit? Go to a personal injury lawyer? File without a lawyer? How would a private individual find a lawyer?
The only people that would know how would be Texas Right to Life...or some other PAC...
A left wing PAC could file a suit to force action, but then they would lose their credibility with issues they advocate.
Of course someone could create a PAC just for this purpose and file lawsuits just to force the issue.
My name and address is out in the public and I'm pretty sure the TRTL are watching me. I can picture them parked in front of my house. I've never been to a Reproductive Rights event or donated money to any RR groups, but I am affiliated with the Democratic Party. I'm sure TRTL is spying on and following all PP donors...It's such a creepy feeling...

(4,383 posts)I could have either called the person speaking or just called the station. I'm sure if there were an actual abortion and damages to be gotten, small-town right wing lawyers would be stampeding to file. Apparently, you don't file in Bexar, or Harris, you go to the sticks where you'll find judges and juries who are dying to stick it to someone in the city. (Actually, they're dying from covid, but that's another story).

Tell Samsung to choose another state. Abbott's anti-abortion gestapo should remove Texas from location.
