Ike Dike
If a hurricane goes up the Houston Ship Channel the storm surge would wipe out a good part of Houston including a number of refineries and the Houston shipping industry. Hurricane Ike came close to doing this and a narrow miss still resulted in a ton of damage. My office was shut down for over a week and I had law partners who were without power for almost a month.
The Ike Dike is a concept to block this storm surge and it appears that we are making progress
