Laredoan, head yell leader expresses displeasure with chants heard at A&M game
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M’s head yell leader, Guillermo “Memo” Salinas, adopted an old-school approach to tackling what’s considered a relatively new issue at Kyle Field. He composed a strongly worded letter to his fellow Aggies concerning their collective chant of a well-known cuss word in these parts, thanks to the state’s robust agricultural inclination.
Apparently what’s been an acceptable crowd insert to the ditty “Cotton-Eyed Joe” across Texas dance halls for decades — “Bull#@%*!” — is not acceptable in expressing displeasure at officials’ calls. At least in A&M’s eyes.
“Sporting events are the front porch of representing Texas A&M spirit and tradition, and our core values should be shown to the millions of people watching worldwide,” wrote Salinas, a senior from Laredo. “As Aggies, we do not boo, we do not chant obscenities at the officials, others, or each other.
“Whenever we disagree with something, especially at a sporting event, we have always expressed our disapproval in a unique way — by hissing.”'

A more troubling chant occurred in what appeared to be a small pocket of Kyle Field — in the upper deck of students — and certainly not across the stadium, which held nearly 100,000 fans Saturday. Some fans yelled, “F--- Joe Biden!” but the chant did not catch on and seemed limited to a small section.
