Suspect in fatal Texarkana mass shooting to face murder charge, 9 counts of aggravated assault
A 21-year-old man will face charges of murder and nine counts of aggravated assault in connection with a shooting at a Halloween party in Texarkana late Saturday that killed one man and wounded nine other people, police say.
Police obtained a warrant early Sunday for the arrest of Keuntae McElroy, who they said turned himself in to authorities later that morning. He was arrested on a charge of felony aggravated assault, but police said Monday theyre preparing a murder charge and eight additional aggravated assault counts.
Jail records do not list an attorney for McElroy.
Police estimate that at least a couple hundred people were at an event center in Texarkana when gunfire erupted about midnight in the 2300 block of Texas Boulevard.
