(25,519 posts)In Texas justice of the peace is a very low position. You don't need to be an attorney.
We also have another perpetual, used car salesman/preacher failed primary candidate..
We also have an unknown in a cowboy hat.
I will take Beto any day.

(1,990 posts)Oh my! That was some shade! Abbott also won a frivolous lawsuit afterwards. I believe Beto will not win in Texas because he is willing to ban semi-automatic weapons. I am personally OK with it. However, I am surrounded by those who will crawl on glass to vote against him because of this. Maybe other dynamics play out to Betos advantage, but I doubt it. I have enjoyed my conversations with Beto and like him a lot, but Texas is fucked up.

(938 posts)I suspect his gun comments will motivate more people on the other side than the entirety of his positive message will motivate our side. In Texas, we Ds are notoriously lazy about turnout in this state, especially in non-presidential elections. Hope I'm completely wrong, but not optimistic.
That said, if he runs, I'll definitely be all in with donations and other support regardless of the odds.
