At least six hospitalized in bus crash on Interstate 35 in Austin incl Special Olympics participants

Update 8 p.m.: Paramedics transported two people to University Medical Center Brackenridge and four people to Dell Children’s Medical Center, according to Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services. Seventeen people were also taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center for further evaulation.

Police have closed both southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near 45th Street because of a crash involving a bus and a car that occurred about 5:51 p.m.

At least five people have been taken to a hospital, though no serious injuries were reported, Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services said.

The charter bus was carrying 20 people, including Special Olympics participants, officials said.

of the Special Olympics participants could place them at higher risk of complications from physical trauma from the accident. I hope their injuries are minor.
