In a marquee battle to save our planet, Green New Deal Democrat Jessica Cisneros

is taking on fossil fuel-funded conservative Henry Cuellar.

The Washington Post reports:
Cuellar is the fourth-biggest recipient in the House of oil and gas campaign contributions in the 2022 cycle so far, receiving $100,200, according to OpenSecrets.

"It's no surprise that as a result of his track record, he's known as Big Oil's favorite Democrat,” Cisneros said of Cuellar… “And it's no surprise that he's doing their bidding after all the support he's received from them."

Cuellar is still actively pushing back on the climate provisions in Biden’s Build Back Better bill and he strongly opposes a Green New Deal to take immediate, bold action to address the climate crisis.

In 2020, Jessica Cisneros came within 3,000 votes of beating Cuellar. And Six PAC supporters like you have helped raise over $10,000 for her rematch this year.

Jessica’s refusing dirty fossil fuel money, which means she needs your help. Donate to help a Green New Deal champion win!

Thanks for your support.

Also, Cuellar VOTED FOR the Infrastructure bill that her fellow Progressives Voted Against. So there's this part to note.

Henry Cuellar DOES back Biden's infrastructure plan - he voted for it!!!
All six of the House Progs voted against it, the only Democrats that didn't vote for it.

HE VOTED FOR THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN.

State your case. But at least state the truth.
Don't start this campaign on a lie about your opponant.

That isn't respectable as a Dem Candidate, nor is it necessary considering Cisneros has a lot of good opposing points to make against Cuellar.

Don't fking take that low road.
Do your research before throwing false accusations out there for a damning Headline. ffs.
Maybe instead, answer why the 6 House Democrats that Cisneros aligns politically with, voted NO on BIF, before accusing Cuellar of something he did not do.

Just fking don't do this bs. It is not necessary, & as of this accusing piece, I doubt Cisneros ability to remain fair & truthful.

in a region where the residents are furious about trespassing, the destruction of property, human smuggling, police chases, and vehicle bailouts.

It will also be interesting to see whether Democratic turnout for her will be comparable to 2020, particularly without a marquee primary contest at the top of the ticket. Unless someone else announces for governor by next Monday night, that race is pretty much decided for Beto. That means that the top two primary battles for Democrats will be for lieutenant governor and attorney general. Barring some unseen development in those races, the top three statewide races will have white males as the nominees. Will the progressive faction show up to vote if Bernie isn't on the ballot and there are no Justice Democrats running in the top competitive statewide races?

Finally, there is a third candidate who is a Hispanic female (Benavides) that has very similar political positions to Cisneros, but is also a few years older and who also has more varied experiences besides being a novice immigration law attorney. I suspect that she will peel more voters away from Cisneros than from Cuellar.

Most voters in that district view the words "immigration rights attorney" and "Justice Democrats" negatively. Anything can happen during any election, but due to the conservative nature of the district I can also see it flipping red if Cisneros is the nominee. That's why I'm less than enthusiastic for Cisneros. I think that Benavides actually has a better chance at upsetting Cuellar than Cisneros despite having far less financial resources available. But what would I know, I only grew up in the adjacent congressional district and I only saw glacial changes in South Texas since I graduated from high school nearly 40 years ago.
