Jasper County District Attorney Anne Pickle will not seek re-election
Jasper County District Attorney Anne Pickle announced on Wednesday that she has decided not to seek re-election.
Pickle who is in the third year of her four year term said she had decided not to sign up as a candidate in the primary election this coming year and instead to move to the Texas Hill Country.
Pickle gave no specific reason for her decision but said it was something she had wanted to do for some time because she had once lived in the Austin-San Antonio Area and liked it.
Also on Wednesday, Newton County Assistant John Burt of Buna announced that he plans to run for the spot, serving as criminal prosecutor.
