Kyle voters to choose next mayor in runoff election Saturday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — This Saturday, Kyle voters will choose between the top two candidates from November’s mayoral election after none of the four candidates received more than 50% of the vote.

The four candidates on the Nov. 4 ballot were Andrea Villescaz, Yvonne Flores-Cale, Donny Wills and Robert Rizo. Rizo and Flores-Cale advanced to the runoff election.

Rizo received just over 42% of the vote while Flores-Cale finished with 32%.

A special mayoral election was held this year after incumbent Kyle Mayor Travis Mitchell announced he would resign from his office effective in November, one year before his term was scheduled to end. He was the longest-serving mayor in Kyle’s history.
