Williamson County voters must vote in assigned precincts for Texas primary election

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Voters in Williamson County won’t be able to use any polling location they want during the primary election in March, after the county’s Republican Party finalized a contract with the county’s elections office.

Williamson County Communications Director Connie Odom confirmed the change to KXAN on Friday.

“Williamson County Elections is under contract with the Republican and Democratic parties to hold their elections,” she said. “The Republican Party made the decision that they want voters on election day to vote in their specific precinct, so the Democratic Party was required to do this as well.”

In October 2025, the Williamson County Commissioners Court voted to change the county’s voting precinct map to comply with the state’s new congressional district map.
