Vermont Democratic Party hires new executive director
The Vermont Democratic Party welcomed a new executive director Monday, with less than one month to go before the primary elections.
Josh Massey said he became involved in politics, and moved to Vermont, because of health care.
Massey and his wife, Melissa, had been selling real estate when the housing market fell, throwing their family into a financial crisis. Their son was born and hospitalized without health insurance, Massey said in an interview. They first moved to Vermont in 2012, when state leaders were working toward a single-payer health care system.
After stints at the Vermont Democratic Party and the Vermont State Employees Association, Massey and his family lived for the last three years in British Columbia, where Massey worked for a housing organization.
