DASH to Reduce Service Due to Staffing Shortage

Due to an ongoing bus operator shortage the Alexandria Transit Company, which operates the DASH bus system, will adjust service levels to an enhanced Saturday schedule beginning Monday, January 3 to maintain service reliability until further notice.
These service adjustments will be effective on weekdays. Currently, weekend service will not be impacted by this change.
• Lines 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36A/B will operate on regular Saturday schedules.
• Lines 102, 103 and 104 will operate on regular weekday schedules.
“This service adjustment is necessary for the safety of our employees, passengers and the public. It also ensures that our riders can count on published service schedules amid these dynamic and evolving circumstances. We thank our passengers for their patience and encourage using all available DASH resources to plan ahead,” said DASH General Manager Josh Baker.
Service levels will be reevaluated on a weekly basis. DASH will provide updates as they become available from monitoring staffing levels.
Like many transit agencies across the country, DASH faces a shortage of transit workers, including bus operators and mechanics, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This challenge is exacerbated by the recent surge of the Omicron variant, and the continued spread of the Delta variant.
