From Loudoun County, Virginia, where Eugene Delgaudio "works"

Ooooh, was he having a bad day.

In wake of gay marriage decision, Delgaudio calls Chief Justice John Roberts a liberal backstabber

Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 by Trevor Baratko

Loudoun County Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio (R) tonight called Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, an appointee of President George W. Bush, a “back-stabbing liberal justice in a gown.” ... The sharp remarks from Delgaudio, a four-term supervisor from the county's Sterling District, came after today's Supreme Court decision not to hear appeals from five states on the issue of gay marriage. The Supreme Court's action allowed for same-sex marriages to legally begin in Virginia.

“We will not surrender the defense of marriage or the right to free speech for Christians and all those Americans who believe in traditional values,” Delgaudio said in a statement on his nonprofit Public Advocate of the United States website. “I promise you one liberal jurist, John Roberts, in a gown is not going to stop millions of determined traditional marriage believers in our right to proclaim traditional marriage and our moral values.”

An outspoken social conservative, Delgaudio for years has made known his aversion to the gay and lesbian community. Delgaudio often uses the term "radical homosexuals" in fundraising emails, and he has referred to members of the LGBT community as "perverts."

In his statement today, which carried the headline “DELGAUDIO ISSUES PROMISE TO FIGHT FOR RIGHT TO VOTE OUR BELIEFS....... No Black Gowned Back-stabbing Liberal Jurist Is Silencing US,” Delgaudio continued, “With this decision, the Supreme Court has stripped hundreds of millions of Americans of the Right to Vote their beliefs and protect their communities and families as they see fit. It is now Supreme Court precedence that Freedom of Speech and the Right to Vote are only recognized so long as they are approved by the Liberal Establishment.”

Supreme Court Decision Clears Way For Gay Marriage In Virginia

By Danielle Nadler Leesburg Today

Loudoun County Circuit Court began issuing marriage licenses for same-sex couples this afternoon, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to let stand a Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that same-sex couples in Virginia are entitled to the rights and privileges of marriage.

The news sent clerks in courts throughout the commonwealth rushing to transition to new marriage license forms that read “spouse” instead of husband and wife, and had many same-sex couples canceling afternoon appointments and work meetings to rush to courthouses.

Melissa Cooper and Dana Fikes, of Sterling, called each other and simply asked, “So, what are you wearing?”

“That was the proposal,” Fikes said, standing in front of the Loudoun County Courthouse alongside Cooper, her partner of 12 years.
