Virginia Air and Space Center celebrates Black History Month

Over the past year, African-American contributions to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) were brought to the forefront through the Oscar-nominated movie "Hidden Figures."

The movie, based on the real-life tale of mathematicians who worked at NASA Langley during the height of the civil rights movement, is set in Hampton.

Hampton also is the location of the Virginia Air and Space Center, which serves as the official visitor center for NASA Langley Research Center and is a hub for education about STEM.
