Maybe they are just "performing" nonpartisan objectivity to keep right wing critics off their back.

and they can say they feel he is well qualified and we can't stoop to their level, concerned about the nuclear option, yada yada. Warner's office said he is following the hearings very closely... like the rest of us! I told his aide that I'm a longtime Dem grassroots volunteer, and that this is the most important vote he has had, IMO, and that his vote will determine my continued support for him.

and called both offices. It did ME good to follow thru with that. The hearing is still ongoing, and why not have them hear from concerned Dems even not their constituents.

I don't know why the party isn't making a bigger stink about holding off the vote until the investigations determine tRump's involvement with Russia.

I have spent a lot of time over the last 6 months weighing the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Gorsuch. I met with him, read dozens of his opinions, and spoke to legal experts and lawyers who have appeared before his court. And I have heard a lot from my constituents. Based on this homework, I have decided to vote no on the nomination.

What stands out about Judge Gorsuch’s history of rulings is his repeatedly activist approach to cases involving a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her health.

Judge Gorsuch has taken extraordinary steps to force reconsideration of rulings that safeguard access to reproductive health care. He has argued that employers have a right to prevent their company’s female employees from using their own health insurance to buy contraception. And he has even referred to women making their own choices about contraception as "the wrongdoing of others."

These rulings and statements do not demonstrate the type of judicial philosophy we need on the nation’s highest court. Many of Judge Gorsuch’s other decisions have been equally troubling. He has ruled against workers' rights, disabled students, and so many other Americans who were only seeking fair treatment under the law.

My first consideration is how Judge Gorsuch’s rulings would affect Virginians, and I am troubled by what I have seen in his record. I am opposing Judge Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, and I’d like to know you have my back...
