Falwell Sr tried to impress Les Paul by showing him his mailroom operation where they were pulling out dollars and checks from envelopes without reading what the donor wrote to them. As an old-fashioned, traditional Republican, the display made him feel sick. Les was known for his generous interactions with his fans. What Falwell was doing to millions of duped targets was disgusting to Les Paul.
