CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The man who organized the Unite the Right rally in 2017 has now dropped his federal lawsuit against people in positions of power on that day.
Jason Kessler filed the suit back in November against the city of Charlottesville, former police chief Al Thomas, and Virginia State Police Lieutenant Becky Crannis-Curl, who was in command of all state troopers on the ground on August 12, 2017.
The suit claimed that both Charlottesville police and VSP did not do enough to stop the violence that occurred that day.
