Bridge collapses in Monroe as truck hauling septic vaults attempts cross

A bridge on private property in Snohomish County collapsed Monday afternoon after a truck hauling septic vaults tried to cross.

The bridge, located in the 20300 block of Old Owen Road, crosses Woods Creek just north of U.S. 2. in Monroe.

Fire crews responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

Crews on the scene were working to catch any oil leaking into the stream. The Department of Ecology had also been contacted, according to tweets from Snohomish County Fire District 7.

We are on a dirt road that apparently the county owned. When it flooded that spring the water covered the road so my boss had a bunch of dump trucks come in to raise the road higher than the water level. When the water receded the county made him tear it all out. Didn’t really make sense to me but that’s what he had to do.
