Man uses Snapchat in attempted child luring at Mountlake Terrace Elementary, police say

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. -- Police in Mountlake Terrace are looking for a man who attempted to lure two young girls into his car last week at Mountlake Terrace Elementary.

A spokesperson with the Edmonds School District shared with KOMO an email sent to all parents saying the incident started on Snapchat around 6:30 p.m. on September 12.

Police said an 11-year-old student was contacted by a person describing himself as a 14-year-old boy on the social media app.
The 14-year-old identified himself as "Jo Jo."

They arranged to meet at Mountlake Terrace Elementary. The 11-year-old took a 12-year-old female friend with her to the meeting.

According to police, "Jo Jo" arrived in a light blue sedan, and instead of being 14 years old, he was identified as a white man in his 20s with facial hair.

The man tried to lure the two girls into his car, according to authorities.

The two students ran away, hid and then called the police, according to the district.

to the kids how they have no way of knowing who exactly is Snapchatting with them, or texting, or any sort of electronic contact.

Good thing the girl took a friend with her.
