Inspection discovers line dumping raw sewage into Lake Union
SEATTLE -- Don't go swimming in Lake Union right now, Seattle Public Utilities are warning after an issue was detected with a sewer line.
Crews were inspecting city draining lines when they discovered an improper connection with a private sewer, SPU officials said.
"Our crews are now keeping sewage out of the line (and Lake Union!) while we work with neighbors to get it fixed," SPU officials tweeted.
In the meantime, they've posted warning signs along the lake near Westlake and Galer advising people to refrain from doing any water activities in the lake until their tests confirm the water is safe.
