Detectives investigating after report of attempted kidnapping of 14-year-old girl in south Everett

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office was investigating Friday morning after an attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl was reported Thursday night.

Sheriff's officials tweeted before 9 p.m. Thursday that the incident occurred in the 13100 block of Fourth Avenue West in Everett, which is close to the Mariner Park and Ride and about a half mile south of Mariner High School.

The 14-year-old girl reported to investigators that a man in a white van with cardboard in the windows tried to grab her while she was walking.

The teen hit the suspect and ran into a nearby business for help, the sheriff's office tweeted.

The suspect was described as a white man with a large scar on his right cheek. He was wearing a blue uniform and was last seen heading southbound on Ash Way.
