Seattle's St. Mark's Cathedral hit by more ideological vandalism
St. Mark's Cathedral, atop Seattle's Capitol Hill, has been hit a second and third time by vandalism -- which manifested this time as spray paint on the building's exterior and tampering in the organ loft.
A large "X," spray painted with metallic paint, covers the name of the Episcopal cathedral and makes it appear as "St. Marx." A second spray painted message: "Polemicists shouldn't whine."
The cathedral was initially vandalized on Martin Luther King Day, with a spray painted message: "Marxist Idiots. Wake Up." Unable to remove the vandalism until weather is warmer and drier, the cathedral has covered the hostile message with a message reading: "LOVE WINS."

The cathedral has filed a third police report and petitioned the Seattle Police Department for an investigation. While recognizing that the SPD cannot spend great resources on investigating graffiti, vandalism at the cathedral appears verging on a hate crime. St. Mark's expects to have "an optimal security system," in Thomason's words, "installed very soon."
