Group of masked gunmen now suspected in 3 pot shop robberies in S. Seattle
SEATTLE -- A group of masked men is now suspected in three separate armed robberies at marijuana shops across the South Seattle area since November.
In each case, the gunmen burst into the store all wearing masks and guns, many times holding employees at gunpoint as they throw marijuana products and money into bags before jumping into a getaway car.
"They're just trying to scare everybody, take as much as they can," said Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff's Office. "We're very thankful that nobody's been hurt, but the concern is that at any moment they might accidentally fire the gun off or they could purposely fire it off at any of these clerks that are just trying to do their job."
The first robbery happened on Nov. 18 at the Star 21 shop in White Center. Then the robbers struck again on Feb. 6 at the III King Company Marijuana in Skyway, followed again by another armed robbery at the Nimbin Pot Shop in White Center on Feb. 19.
