In coronavirus outbreak's epicenter, Google encourages its Kirkland employees to work from home
Google is allowing its Kirkland employees to work from home amid concern about the spreading coronavirus (COVID-19).
Out of an abundance of caution, effective immediately and until further notice, were giving everyone the option to work from home unless performing your role on-site is critical to business continuity, said a Google internal email seen by the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Kirkland is considered the epicenter of the U.S. coronavirus outbreak. Seven residents of the Life Care Center, a Kirkland long-term care facility, have died from the virus. In all, at least 39 people have been infected statewide and a total of 10 Washington residents have died, according to state health officials.
Google did not immediately respond to an inquiry Wednesday, and it was unclear what measures were being taken at the companys South Lake Union campus.
