Food Lifeline expands into Sodo warehouse to accommodate surging demand
Food Lifeline is moving its emergency operations Tuesday morning to a 250,000 square-foot warehouse in Sodo, twice the size of the facility it runs in South Park.
The new warehouse space was donated by San Francisco-based real estate and supply chain logistics company Prologis.
In the coming weeks and months we know there will be tens of thousands of our neighbors who will need assistance putting nutritious foods on their tables for the very first time," Food Lifeline President and CEO Linda Nageotte said. "We dont know how long this is going to last nor the extent of it. We are truly in uncharted territory."
Food Lifelines Mark Coleman says at the current level of need, 300,000 boxes a week are needed to be built and filled, as opposed to 100,000 that they ordinarily give out.
