Seattle's Black Lives Matter calls for statewide general strike, march on Friday
SEATTLE - The Black Lives Matter movement in Seattle and King County is calling for a statewide general strike and "March for Black Lives" on Friday, June 12.
Ebony Miranda, chair of Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County, said the group is planning a silent march in communities all over the state of Washington.
"We are calling on everyone in Washington state who is able to be there," she said. "If you can't march in Seattle, then organize one in your community."
She said organizing a march during this time was not an easy decision, and Black Lives Matter understands that some people will claim that such a march will increase the risk of exposure to coronavirus during the pandemic.
