King County detective on leave after alleged 'All Lives Splatter' Facebook post

Gov. Jay Inslee said Tuesday that he is related to a King County Sheriff's Office deputy who is the subject of an internal investigation after the law enforcement officer shared a social media meme about the weekend death of a protester on Interstate 5 who was killed after being struck by a vehicle.

In a tweet, Inslee said he was "deeply disappointed and totally reject the language" used by Detective Mike Brown.

On Monday, King County Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht called the investigation into Brown's post a top priority, saying it would be an expedited investigation.

"On Sunday, July 5th I was made aware of concerning post made by one of our deputies on Facebook, we took immediate action," the sheriff said via a Zoom interview with reporters.

They just can't help themselves. He should be fired. tulipsandroses Jul 2020 #1
Totally agree. And don't let them just skip to another jurisdiction without their record following. erronis Jul 2020 #2

Desk duty is not enough. These people should have enough sense and restraint to not do stupid shit like this.
This type of work requires good judgment and character. Clearly lacking in this deputy. When people show you who they are. Believe them. Stop setting the bar low for these people.

Some departments seem to have a preference for officers that have been booted out of earlier positions. Perhaps a way to build up a force of the "worst" MFers.

Until we have a complete registry of LEOs that have significant verified claims and this registry is available to everyone, then the "bad apples" will just bounce around the country - spreading their rot.
