Inslee blasts Trump in fiery press conference

dismisses threats about education funding as 'total baloney'

Gov. Jay Inslee on Thursday blasted President Donald Trump for threatening to withhold federal education funding to states that don’t fully open their schools in the fall because of the Covid–19 pandemic.

During an afternoon press conference, Inslee said he’d met with his cabinet this morning to discuss funding for extra measures that may be required to resume safe schooling in the fall. The governor said he will discuss plans to reopen schools with districts across the state next week.

Plans could include using larger spaces to social distance students, installing plexiglass dividers in classrooms and keeping students in small cohorts to keep the virus from spreading.

But as Covid–19 cases spike once again across the state, it’s far from certain that in-person classes will resume, and Inslee said Washington won’t be “bullied” into unsafe education policies by the president.

as our Governor.

Denny Heck running for Lt. Gov. also. I hate to lose him in Congress, but at least we can have him in Washington State. He was so fed up with the House, there was disgust in his voice when he resigned.

Tell the Orange Idiot to go to hell Jay. We don't need his shit spreading gospel in Washington State.

Plexiglass dividers and small cohorts will do little to stop a second wave from schools reopening, especially now that Washington is in the middle of a resurgence of the disease after having flattened the curve before (partially) re-opening.
