Columbia Sportswear calls it quits in downtown Seattle

Columbia Sportswear Co. is the latest retailer to call it quits in Seattle’s downtown core.

The company has closed its store at the corner of Third Avenue and Pine Street, the Seattle Times reported on Monday.

Portland-based Columbia Sportswear declined to comment for this story and has not publicly posted about the closure, but an automatic message at the downtown location confirms the store is closed.

Columbia Sportswear, which first closed its locations due to the pandemic in mid-March, reported a 13% sales decrease in the first quarter and a 40% sales decrease in the second quarter compared with 2019. The decrease in sales is due to the pandemic and store closures, the company said in its earnings reports.
