Inslee announces steps to review safety, efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines
Washington will be joining other western states to take steps to review the safety and efficacy of coroanvirus vaccines when they are approved by the FDA, Gov. Jay Inslee announced Tuesday.
As part of the pact with western states, a panel of experts will be reviewing the vaccines to make sure they work and to ensure people feel comfortable getting the vaccine.
"We would like to give Washingtonians the highest confidence that when a COVID-19 vaccine is available, that it's safe and works," Inslee said during a news conference Tuesday. "This will be an added layer of assurance of an expert review that will help Washingtonians and others in Western states have greater faith and greater confidence in the vaccine so that we can increase the number of folks who actually get the vaccine."
Washinton is working with other states including California, Oregon, Colorado and Nevada to put together a panel of experts and issue this additional reports on coronavirus vaccines.
