Several hundred Trump supporters gather in Olympia
OLYMPIA, Wash. Several hundred people gathered on the steps of the state Capitol building in Olympia on Wednesday to show their support for President Donald Trump.
The protest, called "Operation Occupy the Capitol," was held as lawmakers gathered in Washington D.C. to count the Electoral College vote and certify president-Elect Joe Bidens win in the presidential election ahead of his inauguration on Jan. 20.
While the protest started off peaceful, a group of about 30 demonstrators broke through barriers to the governor's mansion Wednesday afternoon. Washington State Patrol says Governor Jay Inslee and his family are safe and in a different location.
Protesters breached the gate surrounding the mansion and were pounding on the door. State troopers worked to clear the grounds Wednesday afternoon.
It is unknown if any arrests were made.
