Sen Patty Murray: "Senators Hawley and Cruz should resign."

Washington Senator Patty Murray didn't mince words when calling out Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz for their role in inciting Wednesday's riot at the Capitol:

"There can be no normalizing or looking away from what played out before our eyes this week. The violent mob that attacked the Capitol was made up of people who don’t accept democracy, and want to take this country by use of force," wrote Murray in a Twitter thread. "Any Senator who stands up and supports the power of force over the power of democracy has broken their oath of office."

Murray joins the growing backlash against the two Republican senators, both who have expressed support for President Donald Trump and his unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud, following their challenges to the electoral college certification process in an effort to overturn the results.

Five people, including one U.S. Capitol police officer, have died as a result of the violence that shook the nation on Wednesday.
