Seattle Children's hires former US attorney general to lead independent investigation
Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder of Covington & Burling, a renowned law firm based in Washington D.C., has been hired to head an independent investigation into allegations of institutional racism at Seattle Childrens Hospital.
This assessment starts today and this work begins immediately, Seattle Childrens Senior Director of Public Engagement Jennifer Morgan said.
The investigation comes three months after the resignation of Dr. Ben Danielson, who was the senior medical director of the Odessa Brown Childrens Clinic. Danielson outlined numerous allegations of racism at Seattle Childrens in a memo to staff before his departure.
After Danielsons abrupt resignation after 21 years at OBCC, a group of community leaders met with Seattle Childrens CEO Jeff Sperring and called for an independent external investigation.
