Washington has the sixth-lowest COVID-19 spread in US, higher than two weeks ago
Two weeks ago, Washington had the third-lowest rate of average daily COVID-19 cases in the country. As of Sunday, the state's daily case rate ticked up as it had the sixth-lowest spread, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The jump wasn't too significant. On Jan. 3, the state had an average of 18.8 cases per 100,000 daily over the previous week. On Sunday, the same number was 27.
The states to report lower average daily cases per 100,000 over the past week were Hawaii, North Dakota, Vermont, Minnesota and Oregon. Puerto Rico also had a lower rate.
The top state, Airzona, sat at 116.9 cases per 100,000. California, at a rate of 100.9, was up from two weeks ago when the state, still in the midst of a raging surge, had a rate of 98.8. At the end of 2020, Tennessee had the highest rate.
