Boeing expands 737 parts production in India after Chinese supplier blacklisted
Boeing said Friday it has added a new production line at Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited, its joint venture in Hyderabad, India, to manufacture complex vertical fin structures for 737 Max single-aisle jets.
The expansion marks a significant milestone for the Boeing India joint venture with the Tata industrial conglomerate, Boeing said in a statement.
This is a noteworthy step in the growth of Indias aerospace and defense manufacturing, said K. T. Rama Rao, the Industries Minister for the Telangana Municipal Administration in the Boeing India statement. Telangana is an established hotbed for Indias defense and aerospace industry supported by a robust ecosystem, including a large pool of skilled and industry-ready workforce."
The vertical fin is a complex structural airplane part. Boeing said the new production line will utilize "cutting-edge robotics and automation in manufacturing," and create additional employment opportunities and enable skill development as well.
