More snow on the way: Second storm system to bring 4-6 inches of snow to Seattle through Saturday

While many in Western Washington woke up to a generous layer of snow in their yards and atop their cars Friday, a more significant snowfall event is still to come.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle is currently predicting that a second storm system will move through the region Friday evening through Saturday and could bring the potential for an additional 4-6 inches of snow to the Seattle region.

"Light snow showers can be expected through the morning hours before picking up by the late afternoon hours," wrote NWS in their Friday morning briefing. "It is likely that the heaviest showers and period that will experience the most accumulating snow will be overnight tonight into Saturday. A gradual tapering of the snow showers will occur Saturday afternoon."

Areas south of Seattle are expected to see more snow, with both Tacoma and Olympia braced for 6-8 inches Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.

I think we have close to 12 inches in Centralia where I am at. The picnic table on the community patio sure looks like it has that much. My friend in Pe Ell said he has 8-9.

I will be amazed if any of you have a clue as to where Pe Ell is but maybe some of you do.

accumulating in perhaps more snow than we've seen all year. Tonight through tomorrow we're expecting even more which might be a good time to dust off my old skis and head out to the desert.

It's been snowing here since Friday afternoon, gentle but nonstop. It's predicted to continue till Sunday afternoon.
I have power, internet, and coffee. Watching the impeachment debacle on the TV while I work on a bookcase design for Mrs RainCaster.
