Boeing logs more jet orders than cancellations for first time in 14 months

Boeing said Tuesday it ended February with more orders for new airplanes than cancellations for the first time in 14 months.

The Chicago-based jet maker reported it had 82 new orders in February, outpacing 51 cancellations during the same period. The data was in its latest monthly orders and deliveries tally.

Also, 16 aircraft orders previously put in an accounting category where Boeing thought they were at risk of being terminated were returned to the regular order book, including five 737 Maxes and 11 777s, the company said.

Altogether, the data offered the money-losing jet maker's Puget Sound region jet factories and suppliers the first bit of good news in a long time, though it's clear that the international and business travel markets remain difficult.
