Washington health officials urge to get in vaccine line as soon as possible, take whichever shot

As vaccine eligibility is expected to open to all Washingtonians ages 16 and older on April 15, state health officials had a clear message to residents: when your turn comes up, get in line and get whichever shot is available.

During a briefing on Thursday, the Washington Department of Health (DOH) reported that approximately 1.3 million residents, or 16.9% of the population, have received the vaccine.

However, an upward trend in cases, upcoming holidays and increased travel for spring break have officials doubling down on their calls for caution in order to prevent a fourth wave of the virus spread by the more transmissible B117 variant, which is expected to make up 50% of cases by mid-April.

"It's absolutely critical we continue to stay the course," said Secretary of Health Umair A. Shah. "What we don't want to see is that plateauing [of cases] to started to increase and then we are back at it in a fourth wave."

the best thing to do.

I happened to get the Johnson & Johnson one and done, which I'd hoped for, but I'd have been very happy with any vaccine.

Wednesday. I took my dad to get his first shot last Wednesday, and took my wife for her first shot this morning. Both of them also got the Moderna shot.

My son and Daughter will be eligible on the 15th of this month and they will take whatever they have available at the time they get an appointment.

We live in Okanogan County.
