Wet a hand towel, small towel, washcloth, etc. Wring it out, roll into a tube, place in freezer in a horseshoe shape. When frozen, place around neck. Frozen washcloths were good to use on heads too.
I learned this at work one hour summer day and it helped.

(21,646 posts)3. Small frozen water bottles near where you pet lays or in pet bed , cage etc.
Taking it a step further , over heated and home bound my aunt and uncle would take a flat sheet wet it wring it out put it in the fridge then take it out when cold and lay down with it over them and a fan to cool down

i had a couple yards of rough silk that i had used as a photo backdrop. made great bandanas.
even just getting it wet helps a lot.
