Afghan families make tough decision, start resettling in Seattle area

SEATTLE - Afghan families are resettled right here in Washington and more are coming.

More help and resources are needed.

“This is a welcoming community and let's show that with big open arms to these families,” Jessie Robbins said.

Robbins lives in South Seattle.

On Sunday evening Robbins and his 4-year-son Vincent were hanging out with their new Afghan neighbors for the first time.

“We couldn’t have been more excited when we got the news that we get to host a family,” he said.

Robbins and his wife answered the call to help their community when Jewish Family Service made a plea for temporary housing for refugee families arriving from Afghanistan.
