King County Executive Dow Constantine on Tuesday said public health officials are working to develop a "vaccine verification policy" for some nonessential indoor businesses and other venues, likely starting next month.
The announcement comes as Covid-19 cases surge along with hospitalizations and deaths. The news release noted that other jurisdictions, including New York City, San Francisco, British Columbia, and Clallam and Jefferson counties have adopted forms for vaccine verification.
Full details will be announced after county leaders talk with community organizations, labor unions, businesses and cities to gather feedback.
The county is considering nonessential indoor and outdoor spaces where people gather in close proximity for a prolonged period of time. The release did not provide any examples.
