Several Anacortes, San Juan ferry sailings cancelled Friday because of staff shortage

ANACORTES, Wash. - Trips on the #1 Suquamish between Anacortes and the San Juan Islands have been cancelled Friday because of a shortage in staff.

The Washington State Department of Transportation says they had to cancel service for the remainder of the day because of a shortage of Coast Guard documented crew.

The following trips have been cancelled:

4:45 p.m. Anacortes to Friday Harbor

6:30 p.m. Friday Harbor to Anacortes

I wonder if this has to do with the proposed "sick out" to protest the vaccine mandate?

I don’t know how it is these days but when I was younger working for the ferry system was very desirable. I guess people nowadays are able to get good jobs, if it were me I wouldn’t jeopardize my job in support of conspiracy theories. Maybe it’s got nothing to do with the vaccine mandate.

I can’t imagine that stopping someone from accepting a job. Working for the government won’t make you rich but pretty good job security, usually some kind of retirement, and to me the most important, actually getting vacation and sick days.
