Union carpenters to picket Amazon, Facebook and other project sites starting Thursday
Members of the Northwest Carpenters Union will strike at hundreds of job sites starting Thursday, with pickets at a handful of locations, including projects for Amazon.com Inc., Facebook Inc. and Alphabet's Google Inc.
"You are obligated to withhold your labor until we have a tentative agreement that can be offered to the membership for ratification," states a notice on the union's website. It lists just over three dozen contractors that have assigned their bargaining rights to the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington.
Large contractors, including Sellen, GLY and BNBuilders, are listed.
The union said pickets are planned for the Amazon-leased Artise tower that Sellen is building in Bellevue; Facebook's Building X project in Redmond, which BN is building; and Google's fifth South Lake Union building, which is a GLY project. Also to be picketed is the southbound Interstate 5 project through Fife, which is a Guy F. Atkinson contract.
