Washington among 10 worst states for auto theft, report says

SEATTLE - Has your vehicle been stolen lately? You’re not alone.

According to the latest National Insurance Crime Bureau’s (NICB) Hot Spots Report, auto theft increased by nearly 10% in 2020 compared to 2019, moving the state to the eighth-worst state for vehicle thefts.

That’s an increase from 34,172 thefts to 37,465, which translates to an increase of about 368.46 per 100,000 residents.

The annual report showed an increase in auto thefts across the entire country.
