Flash flood like incident closes road in Mount Vernon



MOUNT VERNON , Wash. - West Big Lake Blvd in Mount Vernon is closed following a flash flood like incident Friday night.

Skagit County officials say they believe the flash flood occurred after a beaver dam failed.

Public Works says they will reevaluate the road on Monday.

On Friday, the National Weather Service put out a warning that the river was expected to crest in Mount Vernon late Friday night. According to NWS, the river reached 28.86 feet Friday which is considered minor flooding.
